Elizabeth Debicki recently shared with PEOPLE why she feels The Crown “ended in the right place.” She expressed her view on why she does not want a follow-up season after the series concluded with its sixth season, stating it “respected its own cycle” and extending further could diminish its impact. Debicki was aware from the beginning where the series was headed, noting Peter Morgan’s writing also supported the idea that the show understood its ending well, given the delicate nature of its premise.
While the series finale evoked a range of emotions from fans after a seven-year journey, Debicki is pleased with how Morgan concluded the story, calling his work “amazing.” Although she did not prefer the term “journey,” she acknowledged it was indeed one for viewers to experience. Citing the commitment of fans over six seasons, she feels it was important for the showrunners and actors to bring the story to a satisfying close and that is exactly what The Crown did.
The Emmy-nominated actress shared that there were intense discussions to ensure the story reached a respectful conclusion.
