“The biggest streaming sports event”- Netflix’s Historic Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul Blockbuster to Set New Highs for Live Sports
Netflix was always a titan in the rat race of streaming giants. But lately, their drastic moves and daring stepping stones are brewing fear for the inventories of others like never before. Although Netflix already showed its potential in the last quarter despite axing shows in between, and even removing some from their platform, there is one particular live-stream sports event that has been keeping subscribers on their toes, the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul confrontation.
With the day finally here, the streaming giant looks poised for a game-changing revolution in live sports, setting the stage to become the greatest live event of all time.

In the initial stretch of March, Netflix declared this never-seen-before strategy for its subscribers to witness Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson’s match today at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on the live stream. This intergenerational showdown has garnered widespread appeal from viewers, podcasters, and boxing giants worldwide. According to a new report by Reuters, Bob Dorfman, a veteran San Francisco-based sports marketing analyst, recently claimed the match has the “potential to be the biggest streaming sports event.”
Not only that, Dorfman reflected on an ongoing “trend” across every sports category to move their content, or, at least, parts of it to streaming. Besides that, Netflix's stepping forward in live streaming sports events gives the streamer an edge in providing content that is not available elsewhere. On the flip side, Neal Pilson, the former president of CBS Sports, predicted streaming and traditional live broadcast will co-exist, assuming this match is a “one-time event only.”
Speaking of a streaming revolution in real-time sports events, Bob Dorfman was not the only one to share his belief, since long before some YouTubers saw the game-changing potential in it.
YouTubers predict the impact after the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul match on Netflix
Following Netflix’s historic announcement of live-streaming Mike Tyson’s face-off with Jake Paul, Andrew Schulz appeared on an episode of Brilliant Idiots with Charlamagne in March to laud the streamers’ business strategy. Charlamagne initially stressed how streamers are bound to go into the realm of “live streaming,” and Schulz could not help but remind how Netflix has already taken a step towards it with the match's live stream.

While Schulz thought it was a “game-changer” on the streamer’s part, he even realized how Netflix could have made a considerable profit out of it if a minimal fee of even “$20” was charged, giving them the advantage over any big-budget sports channel. But its decision to give it free meant falling back on sponsorship, which easily prompts the match to become the “most-viewed match in history,” as Bob Dorfman just said.
