As the Witcherverse gears up to revisit previous seasons to ease the transition from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth, fans can expect some unprecedented excitement with this new Geralt. However, it is not just Geralt bringing fresh dynamics to the centuries-old legend. Ciri, too, is set to undergo significant character development, including hints of a blossoming romance, according to Freya Allan’s recent revelations.

Ciri's transformation has been pivotal throughout the three seasons of The Witcher, but stepping into a romantic storyline? That is certainly an unexpected twist, even for the audience.

In one of the latest interviews with Elle, Freya Allan teased some scoops from Ciri’s transformation in The Witcher season 4, revealing some unexpected details as she journeys into a romantic arc within the show. Dubbing the twist as “the biggest shift” ever for Ciri, Allan described the entire footing into this fresh epoch as completely contrasting to the portrayal she maintained throughout the previous installments.

The 22-year-old admits that although it is Ciri’s first step towards courtship, she hesitates to crown as a proper love interest since she refers to it as “not a good relationship”. Earlier, it was revealed that Ciri’s journey into the fourth installment would be full of grimness because of her joining forces with The Rats. However, Ciri’s love story could be another reason to add to the darkness of her character, which she believes would be absolutely horrifying to witness.

If The Witcher were to play by the books, Ciri’s relationship could be an inception through her encounter with The Rats.

Freya Allan has always been drawn to dark characters; her outlook rallies that quality even in her future roles. Though it may not be in the tone of fantasy and otherworldly nature like in The Witcher, her time on the show has to pertain to that. Interestingly, if The Witcher were to stay loyal to the books, Ciri’s love interest could begin with The Rats, specifically with Mistle.

In the books, Ciri’s first encounter with the Rats begins with Kayleigh’s attempt at molesting her, but Mistle chases him away. However, it was only to finish what Kayleigh had begun. This incident leads to the beginning of Ciri and Mistle’s romantic relationship, which continues until Leo Bonhart arrives. While it is unclear if the show's creators will fully adapt this romantic subplot, Allan's description of the relationship as less than enchanting suggests that some elements from the books might still appear in The Witcher season 4.
