“That’s not parenting” Meghan Markle’s Mother Doria Ragland Finally Calls Out Her Ex-Husband for Causing Drama Before the Royal Wedding

As discussed in the docuseries Harry & Meghan, the Duchess had a tough childhood because of the separation of her parents, Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland. Though she had an amazing bond with both her parents, the former American actress often craved a normal family with just one home. Having said that, Meghan Markle and her mother have gone from strength to strength from her childhood until now. However, the same can not be said about her father.

The Duchess and her father have drifted away following her wedding to Prince Harry. Thomas Markle’s act of staging photographs before the royal wedding created a wedge in the pure relationship. Following all the drama, the retired director of photography also gave his daughter’s wedding a miss. Over four years after the grand affair, Doria Ragland has finally reflected on her thoughts about her ex-husband’s behavior.

Meghan Markle reveals she wanted to help her father 

In the third episode of Harry & Meghan, Doria Ragland revealed that she was disappointed with Thomas Markle for joining hands with the media. She also questioned his parenting skills in the docuseries. Notably, the social worker was married to the photography director from 1979 to 1987 and they have only one child, Meghan Markle. 

Harry lost his family; Meghan lost her hers except her mother. Engagement didn’t create the mess, their families did. Imagine finding out the night before your wedding that your father was more enamored of tabloid money that walking you up the aisle. Families turned their backs.

“I felt sad that the media would run with this. That he would capitalize. Certainly, as a parent, that’s not what you do. That’s not parenting,” Ragland told the Netflix camera.

Further in the interaction, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed how they genuinely tried to help the latter’s father. The former American actress claimed that following the news of the photographs, the couple together called her father. They asked him if he knew about the pictures. However, following his refusal, the Duchess offered to take him out of the house as she believed that the media would swarm him. However, Thomas Markle refused any kind of help and that made Markle doubt his intentions. 

Notably, Markle’s relationship with her father has only deteriorated since her wedding. The royal prince has not met his father-in-law even once. The retired director of photography also does not look keen on improving the relations with his daughter as he keeps giving statements in the press about her.
