“That was the intention always” – When Henry Cavill Spoke About the Vision of His Character in ‘Enola Holmes’
In Hollywood, carving a niche out for yourself becomes very difficult. With many films and series featuring various stars competing against each other, it often gets challenging to make a mark for oneself. However, there is one actor who has beaten all the odds to become one of the best there is. Henry Cavill has starred in more iconic roles than some actors get to do in their lifetimes. From playing Clark Kent AKA Superman in Man of Steel to playing Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, the British actor has starred in some of the most iconic roles. Meanwhile, there is another character Cavill played to perfection, the famous detective Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes. So what is Henry Cavill’s vision of his character in the mystery film?

Sherlock Holmes is one of the most loved fictional detectives of all time. Over the years, there have been a plethora of films based on or related to the character. Amongst them also is Enola Holmes featuring Henry Cavill, Millie Bobby Brown, and Sam Claflin. Previously, Cavill appeared in an interview with GQ, discussing some of his most iconic roles.

While breaking down his character as Sherlock in Enola Holmes, Cavill confessed his vision behind playing the actor. The Mission Impossible: Fallout actor revealed, “I wanted to make sure that it was supporting Enola’s story more than anything else. And to play Sherlock in the way I played it, that was the intention always. It was always to make sure that Enola was the focus.”

Meanwhile, Cavill talked about how he prepared for a role with such a rich history. The Witcher star revealed how he does not approach iconic roles like Sherlock deliberately with the intention of making it his own. He admitted how he studied the ways in which the role has been played before. Moreover, Geralt of Rivia spoke about how the character has been done so well before that it actually allowed him room to not necessarily do things precisely.
The sequel to the mystery-crime film Enola Holmes will release worldwide on 28th October 2022. While Cavill and Millie Bobby Brown will reprise their roles as Sherlock and Enola, Sam Claflin will not be a part of the film. Notably, Sharon Duncan-Brewster and Hannah Dodd are the new members of the film.
