“That one’s a trap…” – Jacob Elordi Dismisses His Role in Netflix’s ‘The Kissing Booth’, Calls It “ridiculous”
In the world of entertainment, struggles abound. Many of today’s A-listers trace themselves back to humble roots before making it big on the screens. The likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Pratt are among some examples. More often than not, before grabbing a role in a headline franchise, stars need to prove their mettle in several minor roles. Taking a similar path was Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney, whose co-star, Jacob Elordi, also of The Kissing Booth fame, recently spoke his mind on his story before making it big.
The 26-year-old actor made his mark on honesty with a statement that divided some while striking a chord with others.

Taking to acting at the age of 12, Jacob Elordi started his stint in Hollywood as an extra on Johnny Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Although his breakthrough truly came with Netflix’s The Kissing Booth franchise. Playing Noah Flynn, the actor starred in three iterations running from 2018 to 2021. However, in talks with GQ Magazine, Elordi opened up that those roles were mere stepping stones to his career. “Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape,” the actor claimed.
The statements come close on the heels of his role as Elvis Presley in 2023’s Priscilla. To expand on it, Elordi, stated that the whole point of acting in those movies was to get a job and showcase his talent. Meanwhile, he also addressed that he was lucky enough to get his big break as some other actors get stuck in long-running roles. “That one’s a trap as well,” he related his three movies before going big with Euphoria.
In his list of revelations, the actor also pointed out one oddity that did not seem to fit the rationale.

In what could have been a career-high for Jacob Elordi, the actor refused the role of Superman for James Gunn’s DC reboot. Despite being a fan of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy with Christian Bale at the helm, he rejected the offer to read the movie stating it to be “too dark” for him. In contrast to his hugely negative and starkly dark role in Euphoria, Gunn’s version of Superman would be a much lighter take on the character than Henry Cavill’s stint.
Elordi, passing on the role, gave David Corenswet his shot at the character. Now, as the latter gears up for his version of donning the red cape, the former is moving ahead on other projects. The actor will return with season 3 of the HBO sensation. Moreover, he is also coming in with On Swift Horses alongside Sasha Calle.
