It has been more than a decade, and Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift at the VMA stage in 2009 still remains one of the most controversial moments in Hollywood. This is surprising considering how the standards of what is considered ‘appropriate stage behavior’ hit a big low at the Academy Awards 2022.

Swift and Ye following the interruption at the VMA stage briefly became friends only to later burn that chapter and give rise to one of the biggest feuds in the music industry. For Ye, it may have just been setting new standards for fangirling Beyonce. But for Taylor Swift, it is a moment that she has framed in her living room.

Taylor Swift has a picture of herself with Kanye West in her living room

The Antihero singer has over the years given several empowering and iconic speeches on countless occasions as if to make up for the humiliation that she had to face. Hardly a minute-long interruption gave rise to not just one of the most embarrassing on-stage moments but also to a never dying feud. The singer has come a long way since then. The evidence of the damage done by the little interruption was more than evident in 2016 when Ye dropped his song Famous entailing lyrics that clearly took a dig at Taylor Swift.

Ever since then, Swift has won three Video of the Year awards at the VMA. And in 2022, the singer even attended the VMA’s with a clap-back outfit that looked like an updated version of the one she wore in 2009. The biggest clap back however would be the picture Taylor Swift has of the Kanye West interruption in her living room with a quote “Life is still of little interruptions.”

This is not the first time that Swift has poked fun at that moment. In 2015, Swift iconically repeated Ye’s speech as she presented the Video Vanguard honor to him at the 2015 VMA awards.

“So I guess I have to say to all the other winners tonight: I’m really happy for you, and I’mma let you finish, but Kanye West has had one of the greatest careers of all time!” And just like that, she took home the trophy of having the best mic drop moments of all time.
