‘Stranger Things’ Star Matthew Modine Teases Fans With WGA Strike Poster, Building Anticipation For Season 5
The fire within the hearts of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA protestors does not seem to die out very soon. On one hand, it is inspiring how the entire industry came together to fight for their rights. But on the other hand, the strike led to production delays and complete shutdowns of many anticipated shows. Stranger Things undoubtedly takes the top spot on this list. While fans are eager to see the Hawkins gang’s ultimate battle against Vecna, the release of the final installment stays in limbo despite updates almost every other day.
Recently, Matthew Modine, popular for playing Dr. Martin Brenner, shared a poster from the writer’s strike on social media. Modine, through this post, rubbed salt in the wounds of Stranger Things fans by building anticipation for the show.

The Oppenheimer actor’s Instagram post is making enthusiasts anticipate season 5 with bells on. The actor shared a poster that said “Don’t You Wanna Know How Stranger Things Ends?!” The poster also had the tagline “WRITERS GUILD ON STRIKE!” written in big block letters with the iconic theme soundtrack playing in the background created by Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon of the band SURVIVE. All of this again highlighted the plight of writers who have been on strike for long, making fans wait to know what happens next in Hawkins.
Speaking of the strike, even the Duffer Brothers shared back in May with the fandom that starting production “is not possible during this strike”. As per the makers, until and unless they reach a fair deal, there won’t be any more updates for the upcoming season of the sci-fi horror. However, recently, the production confirmed the release of Stranger Things Season 5 in 2024, causing a stir among the fans. Hopefully, the strike might be about to reach an agreement that will allow fans to see “Papa” in the final season as they have been wishing for.
The desire to see Modine is not only limited to the fans. Even the actor himself opened up about his wish to be a part of the final chapter, despite his character being dead.

For four seasons, the makers have portrayed Dr. Martin Brenner as the main antagonist. Towards the end of season four, fans got to witness the ambiguity in the scientist’s character, who did everything in the name of science. However, fans still can not forgive the character for the predicament he unleashed for his selfish experiments. Yet, on the flip side, Brenner still remains one of the standout villains of the series, owing to the indisputable talent of Modine.
While talking to Radio Times, he shared, “I hope that there’s some way to resuscitate Dr. Brenner and put him in season 5 because it would be wonderful to be part of the last season”. He further hinted at the loophole that could provide the makers a way to bring back Brenner about how nothing about his death was specified, as he was just seen “lying there in the dirt.” Even in the first season, fans thought that the Demogorgon killed Brenner, but to everyone’s surprise, he made a return in season 4. Nevertheless, fans still have to wait for season 5 to see if the evil scientist faked his death once again!
