Stranger Things is moving towards its fifth and final season. Given the ending of season 4, the series will probably delve into the aftermath of the Upside Down’s invasion in Hawkins. But with constant delays owing to the strike, the show has landed on a wobbly road due to its young cast becoming not so young anymore. Fans have been wondering what measures Shawn Levy and others take to hide the ageing factor.

On popular demand, producer Shawn Levy had set the record straight about using AI to de-age actors playing high school teens. Once again, he has proven why he and Stranger Things are the perfect match.

Two weeks back, Shawn Levy addressed the kerfuffle surrounding the growth of the once-teenage cast of Stranger Things. In his Variety interview, the executive producer said they would do everything in their power to make it less apparent. However, when people mistook his words, he sat down with Deadline to make it clear that he never meant they would use AI to make them look younger. “I kind of was surprised that one sentence I said around this topic traveled so widely,” said the filmmaker.

He continued the team knows what they have been doing on the show all these years. Also, their cast, including Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp and Sadie Sink, have done their work brilliantly. So the Canadian director was not worried about the actors reprising their roles in the horror drama. According to him, the Duffer Brothers have developed these characters so vividly they do not need to consider these issues.

In October, Shawn Levy did an interview with Variety and broke his silence on cast ageing. He said they have an “exceptional” makeup and wardrobe department that will help breathe life into the beloved characters for the last time. Through the use of wigs, prosthetics,  and makeup, he believed the team could make actors perfectly fit their respective roles.

Well, fans would agree with these statements of the producer because they have dealt with these issues during the pandemic. Season 4 returned two years after the release of the third installment. Despite that, viewers loved the season, making it one of the most-watched series in the history of the show. Not to forget, the team took home an Emmy for Outstanding Prosthetic Make-Up.
