‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Will Bring Back Jonathan Byers Into the Limelight Tells This Tease
If Hawkins is the body of Stranger Things storyline, the characters are the soul that took the show toward profound success. One of those characters who played an essential role in winning viewers’ heart when the series started was Jonathan Byers, the elder brother of Will who got trapped in the Upside Down in season 1. In the early days of the show, he was an integral character who fought against monsters to save the town. However, as the story progressed, his screen time continued to decline and was hardly there in season 4.
With fans eagerly awaiting the season 5 finale, it appears Jonathan will have a significant part in the upcoming season.

Stranger Things season 5 will be the last time fans will dive into the supernatural world of Hawkins with their beloved characters. So this becomes necessary to depict characters in their best versions. The official writer’s page of the show on X, formerly Twitter, has been sharing a lot of pre-vis teasers these days. One teaser included a scene where Jonathan Byers, Nancy Wheeler, and Dustin were driving a car through the Upside Down.
The animated video revealed that season 5 will feature the character more prominently. Also, the scene involved Nancy and Jonathan together, which means they buried the hatchet after their strained relationship in season 4. Fans saw in the penultimate season that the two could not meet each other. In fact, at some point, it seemed Wheeler might reignite her fling with the popular jock, Steve.
This clip, however, has provided some hope for Jonathan and Nancy fans. Not to mention, this Jonathan tease will also align perfectly with what creators promised fans about the anticipated finale.

In July 2022, Duffer Brothers sat down with Entertainment Weekly to talk about the final showdown of Stranger Things. During the conversation, the duo teased they will dive back into the past for season 5. “We wanna go back to a lot of the things we did in season 1,” Matt told the outlet. According to them, the debut season had many original groupings and pairings and they would focus on them only instead of bringing something new.
The creators want to complete the circle and end the show with memorable moments from favorite characters. Since season 1 showed Jonathan Byers in the limelight, his getting back stronger would be fulfilling. However, as of now, no one knows what these characters will face in season 5 because scripts are still underway. Fans can only hope that the writers find the right moments to conclude this storyline without leaving something important.
