Not so long ago, Upside Down fans finally found an opportunity to celebrate despite the missing installment with the annual Stranger Things Day after the cast and crew released a title tease. Although they are expected to finish filming by early 2025, the production still has no release date. Stranger Things Updates on X report that Netflix changed the series from TV-14 to TV-MA, meaning the installment will include more mature content, intended for adult audiences.

Stranger Things News on X confirmed a casting return for Max Mayfield after she was severed with Vecna’s telekinetic abilities in season 4, leaving the Upside Down in a cliffhanger. Her return was always in the script’s destiny, but the Duffer brothers nixed any hopes of fresh faces back in 2022. While casting calls teased extras and surprises, the upcoming season sticks with the original lineup—well, except for the dearly departed, though, flashbacks have ways to revive even the dead.

The Vanishing of… alludes to the series premiere, The Vanishing of Will Byers, although it remains to be seen who disappears into thin air this time around. The final title resembles the first season’s final episode, turning the tables on The Upside Down with The Rightside Up. Although it was teased for a long time that Stranger Things aims to bring a full circle with this installment, the title teaser reveals at least the tip of the iceberg merged under waters.
