‘Stranger Things’ Season 5: Netflix Looks to Hire This Rarely Seen Season 1 Character Ahead of Ultimate End
It will not be long before the gates to the world of Upside Down come to a close with the fifth and final season. But before it does, the cast and crew have shouldered the responsibility to bring the story of Hawkins, Indiana, into a full big circle that ties from toe to inch where it all began. Although Ross Duffer has been adding marbles to the jar like the season will drop any minute, one of the latest updates for Stranger Things’ upcoming season cues at a casting call for a seldom-seen character from the very first season.
While fans must be buckling up to welcome the unexpected, this could be their last chance to become directly a part of that.

According to multiple reports on X, the Stranger Things production team is presently on the lookout to cast a young version of Jim Hopper’s daughter, Sara, for last season's final episode. The actor should resemble Sara from the flashbacks in season 1 and have a close match to cast member Elle Graham. Filming is set to begin somewhere between October and December.
In case fans forgot, Sara Hopper was a minor character played by Elle Graham in Stranger Things. She was the only daughter of Jim and Diana Hopper, born in Hawkins but raised in New York. Sadly, she passed away after being diagnosed with cancer, which was thought to be linked to her father’s exposure to Agent Orange, a toxic gas, during the Vietnam War.
This connection between the first and final seasons definitely feeds into the cast's hints about Stranger Things coming full circle. And actor Gaten Matarazzo recently commented on that as well.

After being part of a show, Stranger Things, that spanned a decade, it is only natural for it to feel like home. But saying goodbye to that home is just as tough as the first time, as Gaten Matarazzo mentioned in a September interview with NME. He reflected on how the journey once felt endless, calling it a "cathartic process" leading to the finish line.
Matarazzo also shared that everyone in the cast has been processing a lot internally. With filming likely continuing until the new year, he feels there is still time to come to terms with it all. However, he could not help but express how much he will miss playing Dustin Henderson. And now, with the final script read and an iconic casting call underway to tie all loose ends, it really does feel like the end is closer than ever.
