How soon is too soon? Times are turbulent for the Upside Down squad, both on and off the screens. While the ensemble led by Eleven will pick up on the consequences of Season 4, the main cast has to deal with surmounting delays with each passing day. As such, the Stranger Things fandom is holding its breath in anticipation of the next season’s release. The fifth and final season was announced by the show creators, Duffer Brothers, back in February 2022. However, as of yet, it is yet to commence filming.

Amidst the cries and chants of SAG-AFTRA strikes, the production of the Netflix show’s final season is on halt. While on the other hand, expectations and fan theories are running amok. The show enjoys a large and devout fan base, the majority of which is holding its breath for the final showdown. Season 4 ended with the stage wide open for Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven to serve or get served the final bow to or by Vecna. Amidst such teases, fans are fuming in on the wait.

Moreover, the Duffer Brothers had already teased that their five-season story arc was already complete before the release of Season 4. As such, the delays may cause potential changes or alterations of vital storylines, something that fans will certainly not want on their screens. Further, the season also has to seal the fates of its wide cast as well.

Furthermore, to rub salt in the wounds, producer Shawn Levy recently teased a massive scale and “cinematic storytelling” for season five. The Deadpool 3 director also poked fans by claiming that the season will be as huge as “some of the biggest movies”. Regardless, all we have so far is just some intel on pre-production and not a bit more.

Thus, the anchor holding back the ship of fan’s expectations may give way anytime soon. 

Amidst the weight of waiting, fans share ‘upside down’ reactions to Stranger Things Season 5 delays

The Stranger Things fandom has been on an arduous and uncertain wait for the past year. Season four ended back in July 2022. Since then, no new content from the show has ever found the light of the day. Except for teases on the show’s purported grand production and news about a potential spinoff, it is all but a parched land. Additionally, the filming for the fifth season was supposed to commence in June 2023 and end the same month in 2024. Yet, it is September and there is still no headway. Alas, fans show mixed reactions to it. While all are worried about the release, some are not yet ready to let it go.

Although the excitement is still palpable.

It is time for goodbye, friend.

If you are a Stranger Things fan, we can feel your pain. The wait is long and agonizing. And so is the grief of bidding adieu to the cast that we grew up with. However, it might be of some comfort to know that we are not alone on this ship. The cast also feels the same way as us. At least for the saying goodbye part.
