However, when asked if he preferred his character to die early or at the end of the season, Matarazzo expressed hope for a later exit, allowing him to spend as much time as possible with his co-stars and maximize his screen time before the series concludes.

When TMZ caught up with Gaten Matarazzo last Wednesday, the actor revealed how the Stranger Things squad has been racing to finish filming the final season, with the actors maturing quickly and moving beyond their teenage personas from the early seasons. Starting the series at 13 and now nearing 21, the actors' aging has been a significant factor, making it increasingly challenging to maintain the illusion of adolescence. Matarazzo's skittishness suggests a shared urgency to bring the series to its conclusion.

The actor acknowledged that despite previous setbacks such as strikes and the pandemic; the team is now determined to deliver a satisfying and comprehensive conclusion to the Stranger Things saga. Regarding the scripts, Matarazzo clarified that while he has not read all, he has reviewed a substantial portion, and they are mostly finalized. However, should Matarazzo's suggestion of a self-sacrificial exit come to fruition, fans might find themselves conflicted, possibly preferring a delay to savor the series further, contrary to their earlier hopes.
