‘Stranger Things’ Fans Left Displeased as David Harbour’s Comments For Finale Speculate a Major Delay
Stranger Things makers have been teasing fans with updates for the upcoming and final season 5. The last season is somewhat of an emotional one for fans, being the last time they will see their favorite Hawkins town characters on screen. Though the makers are expanding the universe and adding more and more spin-offs and comics, there is one thing that is plaguing everybody’s minds. And that is the anticipation for the release of updates from the original Upside Down series. And this time, a new update comes from David Harbour that has rather displeased fans instead of adding to their joy.
While “writing does not stop” for the Duffer brothers even when filming has begun, the show’s creators have dropped generous hints about the fifth season. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harbour revealed that the final season would take a year to complete. He said, “There will be a little bit of a push difference, but Stranger Things 5 will shoot for a year.” Even though the film sets were already in the works and the iconic battle location might be ready, the actors could not return to filming.

The SAG-AFTRA strikes are still in motion with no unanimous agreement to date. Though the exact reasons for the delay were not cited, it is obvious owing to Hollywood’s labor movement. Moreover, with the show gearing up for a worthy ending for all characters, fans cannot help getting excited. The ending of season 4 was nothing short of thrilling. One of the most powerful villains created heartbreak among fans as Max slipped into a coma with broken limbs. The fans even prayed for Max’s speedy recovery in their dream ending for the show.
They could see another of their characters losing their lives, like Eddie in the gruesome battle. It disheartened the fans to know they had to wait about 12 months to know about the previous season’s cliffhangers.
Stranger Things fans muster up all their patience for Season 5
The fans have been on the Upside Down roller coaster since 2016. This July marked its seven-year-old anniversary. And with the latest updates, it seems like the fandom will be on the journey for around eight to nine years. One of the fans even pointed out how the makers took ten years to make five seasons. Moreover, with eight episodes each! Others typed in the comment section in agony.
While some used their favorite ships to keep up their hopes, others were practical and calculated the estimated release.

While the wait seems to be getting longer, the makers usually took a year to roll out one season. The VFX and the dense storylines often live up to the time taken. While fans guess a further 2026 release, only the official announcements can confirm their bets.
