Fans have journeyed through Hawkins for 8 years, but by the time the final season arrives, they will have waited over 9 years for the story of Stranger Things to come full circle. For the teenage stars of the Upside Down—Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, and others—the passage of time is even bigger since their time on the show will reach a decade when the final season hits Netflix next year. While the aging process has consistently caused concern for stars who have moved past their adolescent image, recently, a surge of fans rallied behind Brown following her latest statement.

Netflix has finally revealed the first look at the Stranger Things squad with a thrilling behind-the-scenes teaser from the making of the fifth and final season. With production already halfway completed, the teaser features shots of the Stranger Things kids in action, including Millie Bobby Brown. During the opening seconds of the 1 minute 47 seconds long teaser, Brown reflects on her journey, stating, "I started when I was 10, and now I'm turning 20 years old," highlighting the passage of time to express how surreal it feels.

As the clip made rounds on the Internet, satiating the appetite of Hawkins-hungry stans, a subset of users reposted her statement with a plea for makers to "never repeat this with a TV show again." While the aging of the high school drama's stars has constantly been a source of panic for the makers and fans who remember them from their adolescent roles, the uncalled-for urge from X prompted fans to back Brown, offering reasoned support on the matter.

In truth, fans would have likely accepted constructive criticism gracefully. However, since the criticism focused on a topic already on the registry of worry for the stars and creators, the show's loyal supporters opted to address the plea head-on instead.

Stranger Things fans tackle criticism over Millie Bobby Brown’s statements

Millie Bobby Brown's remarks may have prompted fans to urge creators against stretching the storyline at the expense of the show's theme, but supporters felt compelled to respond with thorough explanations. Maya Hawke recently addressed delays in production by explaining and describing the upcoming eight-episode final season by likening them to the making of "eight movies" to Podcrushed. Fans used this reference, coupled with insights from previous seasons, to justify the extended timeline, noting the team's approach to crafting each episode as akin to a feature film.

They pointed out that while a typical movie takes 3 to 4 years to develop from production to release, the Stranger Things team has managed to breathe life into eight such movies within the given timeframe, which is commendably ambitious.

Many fans also acknowledged external factors such as Hollywood strikes and the pandemic, which significantly interrupted production. While most supporters understood these delays were beyond the team's control, their unwavering support has further convinced many that the fifth season of Stranger Things will be a blockbuster event, despite being a Netflix series.
