The Witcher Season Three threw plenty of curveballs, yet none were as impactful as the dynamic transformation in Ciri’s character. This transformation will bring forth a complete shift in the narrative of the show moving forward. Played by Freya Allan, Ciri faced a near-capture by Vilgefort in the third season’s climax. However, she defied the odds and somehow used her powers to escape. Eventually, the princess wound up in the Korath Desert.

It was in this harsh landscape that Ciri underwent a significant transformation, marking the beginning of a dark turn in her character’s arc. With speculation building around the fourth season, here is a look at where Ciri’s fate might lead her next in The Witcher Season 4.

The Witcher fandom collectively speculated that Ciri could be the descendant of either Falka or Lara Dorren. As per the fantasy prophecy, a Falka descendant is fated to bring about the apocalypse, whereas a Lara Dorren descendant will prevent it. Although Ciri’s lineage is still unclear, the fact that she identified herself as Falka towards the end of season three suggested a potential connection to the sinister sorceress Falka. Additionally, Ciri allied with the mischievous group called the Rats.

In the original books, the Rats are a band of criminals who do not hesitate to resort to murder or incite violence. This association could mark a dark shift in Ciri’s character who, so far, has been a compassionate and kind princess. However, in an interview with Tudum, Freya Allan clarified that Ciri calling herself Falka was a result of guilt over murdering because she was feeling no different than the evil sorceress.

Ciri will not be completely devoid of her powers

Towards the end of season 3, fans observed Ciri yielding to the temptation of using fire magic to rescue her unicorn friend. This choice led her to renounce her powers which was mainly driven by concerns about the destructive nature of fire magic. Nevertheless, her lineage of Elder Blood ensured that Ciri was not permanently bereft of her powers. The princess still has access to some of her abilities, which is also suggested in the sources.

Any ardent fan of the Witcher franchise is familiar with Ciri’s destiny which leads her to become the Lady of Time and Space. This power would elevate her far beyond the capabilities of a mere human and position her as one of the most powerful witchers on the continent. Therefore, even with her decision to forgo her powers, there is a high chance that she could effortlessly access them whenever the need arises in the show.

Ciri and Geralt may not be sharing the screen in The Witcher Season 4

In previous seasons, fans savored the familial connection between Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri. From training sessions to shared meals and protecting each other against odds, the love that they shared resonated deeply among fans. However, Ciri parted ways with Geralt in the third season. And according to the original books by Andrej Sapkowski, this parting appears to be a lasting one.

The book implies that Ciri and Geralt’s reunion occurs only when Ciri decides to leave the Rats and explore different worlds. Meanwhile, Geralt will confront Vilgefortz and Emhyr before crossing paths with Ciri. Fans are eagerly looking forward to witnessing the new dynamic between Liam Hemsworth and Freya Allan. They are hoping it can match the father-daughter chemistry between Henry Cavill and Allan.

Ciri could become the  Lady of Time and Space in the forthcoming season

What distinguishes Ciri among the Witchers is her exceptional power to traverse different dimensions in both space and time. This exceptional power eventually grants her the title of Lady of Worlds or Lady of Time and Space. According to the original sources, Ciri’s next confrontation with Vilgefortz will transport the princess to an alternate reality known as Aen Elle. This is where she will reunite with her unicorn friend, named Ihuarraquax.

Ihuarraquax is the very entity for which she gave up her powers. Ihuarraquax also taught Ciri the art of traversing worlds. Eventually, Ciri will master this art of journeying across different worlds until she lands in one shared by Yennefer and Geralt. There is little chance that she will reunite with them in the fourth season. However, she will definitely begin honing her skills leading to the reunion in the forthcoming season.

To sum it up, Ciri and her transformation will undoubtedly take center stage in the forthcoming season. Her character arc might commence on a darker path. But she might return to her original self upon the reawakening of conscience. The resolution to these intriguing developments will only be answered with the release of Season Four.
