Squid Game has become one of the biggest non-English shows ever, continuing to build on the success of its debut season. And if the song 'Round and Round' stuck in our heads is any indication, the show is on its way to creating more milestones. Squid Game Season 2 was released last month, just before the New Year, and it is already a massive hit among fans, continuing the story from where the first season left off.

There was, however, some doubt about whether the second season could match the overwhelming viewership of the original, but it is well on its way to becoming an all-time.

Season 1 of Squid Game currently holds a viewership of 265 million. While that is an impressive number, the second season is not far behind in its quest to top it. Season 2 has become the third most-watched TV season on Netflix with 152.5 million views. This milestone followed another major achievement of 68 million views within just four days of its release—making it Netflix’s biggest TV debut for a season ever.

In the weeks after its debut, the second season of the dystopian survival thriller brought in 126.2 million views in just 11 days—which was more than any other Netflix series has ever achieved in that time frame. Though it still has a long way to go to surpass its predecessor, the K-drama has firmly secured its place at the top of the non-English TV Top 10 list for another week. Season 1, driven by renewed excitement, even made a comeback at No. 3 on the same list. And now, fans are already anticipating Season 3.

And to take the anticipation up a notch, Netflix Korea accidentally leaked the release date for Squid Game Season 3 in a teaser video on YouTube in the early hours of January 1st. The teaser had season 2’s post-credit scene and also hinted at a new game in the next season.

The title and description hinted at a 2025 release as well. Although the video has been deleted or set to private in some regions, sharp-eyed fans quickly caught the June 27 release date and saved it before it could be removed. Nonetheless, by the time Season 3 premieres, hopefully, Squid Game Season 2 will have surpassed the first season’s record-breaking numbers.
