Marvel has already kickstarted its phase 5 with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Despite Marvel’s big plans for phase 5, somehow the film failed to make an impact as expected. However, the Paul Rudd-led movie did reveal a few things like the relationship between Janet van Dyne and Lord Krylar. And the brief fling between her husband Hank Pym and Linda. While Linda did not appear in the film, script-writer Jeff Loveness had Jennifer Coolidge in his mind while drafting the script.

In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Loveness revealed that he had some great ideas about Linda and the perfect actress that could fill in the role. He had hoped to cast Emmy-winning actress Jennifer Coolidge in the role. He even did a zoom call with his colleagues from Marvel. But unfortunately, it never materialized and he was forced to chuck the idea for the time being. Although Coolidge did not get an offer from Marvel yet, Jeff is hopeful that she will become a part of the MCU in the future. He pitched her for the role of Doctor Doom.

We’ll save her for next time. I’m sure she’ll wind up in the MCU, sometimes. She can be Doctor Doom,” he said.

Even though it’s disappointing that The White Lotus actress couldn’t have her MCU debut, Doctor Doom seems like a good idea. He is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel comics. The character debuted in Fantastic Four #5. He was originally supposed to play an adversary to the Fantastic Four but he evolved into something more terrifying and bigger. Interestingly, Marvel also hinted at him coming in Ant-Man 3.

Ant-Man 3’s post-credit scene revealed Kang arriving on a Time Platform. It is exactly what Reed Richards used to arrive at the right time to join hands with the Illuminati in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. And it was created by none other than Doctor Doom. With Marvel leaving such clues, and Coolidge coming so close to her MCU debut, it is quite possible for the actress to play the supervillain in the next Marvel movie.

We think Marvel will do anything now to undo the blunder it did by dropping Michael Pena from the sequel. Do you want to see the actress play the big bad? Let us know in the comments below.
