The retired television lighting director Thomas Markle is not fond of his daughter Meghan Markle. The tiff between the father and daughter is quite visible with the two mincing no words while expressing their disagreement with each other. There was a hope of reconciliation between Thomas and Meghan when the former confirmed his presence at the royal wedding in 2018 to walk his daughter down the aisle.

However, he canceled the plan at the last moment due to his heart surgery. The retired professional also managed to make Meghan upset by staging photographs with the British tabloids before the grand ceremony at St George’s Chapel. Following that, Thomas’ negative remarks over Meghan in recent years have only added fuel to the fire. Once, while giving an interview in April 2022, the American citizen questioned his daughter’s decision to leave the royal family.

Thomas slams Meghan Markle for stepping down as a working royal

Speaking to GB News in April 2022, Thomas Markle slammed his daughter for leaving an opportunity to be with the people and earn their precious love. The director of photography did not support Meghan Markle’s decision of stepping down as a working royal along with her husband Prince Harry. He believes that being an actress, the Suits alum should have loved her role of greeting children and meeting new people. 

“My daughter should have loved the idea of becoming a part of the royals and reaching out and shaking hands with children all day long and meeting people and greeting people. It’s what an actor does too and she would have been so loved had she stayed and done,” Thomas Markle told GB News. 

He added that there is no meaning to her stepping down as a working royal and living an alone life in a big house in California. Thomas believes that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now have no work and no proper company. The Emmy Awardee is also upset with his daughter for not letting him meet his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet.
