Netflix’s hit fantasy series, Shadow and Bone has just begun filming season 2 and the streaming giant recently announced the addition of four new characters to the Grishaverse. The new cast includes Anna Leong Brophy (Traces) as Tamar Kir-Bataar, Jack Wolfe (The Witcher) as Wylan Hendriks, Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat) as Tolya Yul-Bataar, and Patrick Gibson (The OA) as Nikolai Lantsov.

Shadow and Bone is an American fantasy drama, inspired by books set in the Grishaverse created by author Leigh Bardugo with the author also acting as the executive producer of the show. Since Season 1 of Shadow and Bones became popular, Netflix had officially announced the renewal of Season 2 in June 2021. While Bardugo and the show’s cast got us excited about the different characters and word-building we will experience in season 2, what we are really looking forward to is the fight between Tamar and Tolya.

Recently, Netflix Geeked has tweeted a training video of Lewis Tan as Tolya Yul-Bataar from Shadow and Bone. From the video, we can expect there will be a fierce battle between Tolya and Tamar.

Lewis Tan as Tolya Yul-Bataar in Shadow and Bone season 2

After Netflix’s Wu Assassins, Lewis Tan will play the character of Tolya, who is also the twin brother of Tamar. As per the books, he has golden eyes and is also a member of the Sturmhond crew and Soldat Sol. He is described as muscular and tends to pick fights, just like his sister.

The actor Lewis Tan is going on for some major transformation, as we can see in the above video. His ongoing intense training is proof that the fight between Tolya and Tamar will be the ultimate fight of the season. Tan played the lead role in last year’s Mortal Kombat movie and proved himself that he is capable of all kinds of stunt-fighting, making his perfect casting choice for Tolya Yul-Bataar.

After appearing in Back and Traces, Brophy will appear as Tamar in a new look. As per the books, Tamar is the twin sister of Tolya, and also a member of the Sturmhond crew and Soldat Sol. She is fierce, and it’s hard to defeat her in a fight. She always carries an axe and carries the abilities of a Grish Heartender.

Since Netflix hasn’t announced the release date of Shadow and Bone Season 2, we don’t know when the new season will be out. But with production and filming getting underway, we can expect that Season 2 will drop on Netflix at the end of the year.
