Netflix British comedies Sex Education and Derry Girls both picked up a nomination in comedy. Both comedies focus on the high school experience. However, the former tackle taboo subjects with heart and humor, and the latter combines politics with raunchy humor. Derry Girls just concluded with three seasons, and Sex Education is gearing up for a fourth installment. After Life also got a nomination in the same category.
Peaky Blinders also got its due as it is nominated for Returning drama. After the Emmy snub, Cillian Murphy might just take away the Drama Performance award. Period romance, Bridgerton, which made everyone swoon with the romance of Dukes and Duchesses, is nominated in three categories, and so is Heartstopper. The British drama based on Alice Oseman’s novel, a coming-of-age tale of two young boys in grammar school coming to terms with their sexuality, was a major hit for the platform.
