Ahead of Stranger Things Season 4, every fan was worried about which of their favorite characters might meet their end. Max Mayfield, played by Sadie Sink, was high on that list. The trailer where Max was seen levitating in the air made those fears even more pronounced. Turned out that although Max did not die, she slipped into a coma after the intense season finale. Since then, fans have been wondering if Max will pull through and, if she does, whether she will be the one to put Vecna in his place once and for all.

Sadie Sink has now come to the rescue of fans, offering some much-needed hints about Max's future in Season 5.

One of the best moments from Stranger Things season 4 was created when Max crossed paths with Vecna. It would be a real shame for the Duffers to not recreate such moments and milk them for every drop it is worth. Recently, Sadie Sink revealed that Max will not be stuck lying in her bed while her friends save the day. Speaking to Variety, she said, "They love having me run. That’s all I’ll say”.

This comment instantly brings to mind one of the show’s most gripping scenes, where the song ‘Running Up That Hill’ becomes Max’s lifeline, as she runs for her life in slow motion to escape back to the real world. The Duffer brothers have hinted at similar things when asked about Max’s return. Matt Duffer told Variety, “She’s going to play a part in the season”, only for Ross Duffer to add, “But we don’t want to reveal how that’s possible”.

In an old interview with Extra, Sadie Sink dwelled on the prospects for Max Mayfield joining her Hawkins gang in Stranger Things season 5. When asked about what she wants for the character, and whether Max would ever walk again, the Dear Zoe star stated, “I just want her to be healthy.” While it is uncertain how Stranger Things will end for Max, for Sink, it is going to be “bittersweet.”

Earlier this year, Sadie Sink told UPI that Max means a lot to her. As a result, season 5, which will be the final season, is going to be a “bittersweet ending for the Fear Street actress. “I don't really remember a life without it,” the 22-year-old said. Nonetheless, the hope is that, before the Netflix show drops its curtains, the badass boomer Max Mayfield will get her much-deserved satisfying ending.
