The original Sabrina the Teenage Witch

Directed by Tibor Takacs and with a screenplay by Barney Cohen, Kathryn Wallack, and Nicholas Factor, Ryan Reynolds’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch is one of the very first adaptations of the comic. The 1996 movie is a coming-of-age movie about a witch. On her sixteenth birthday, Sabrina Sawyer, who lives with her quirky aunts, discovers that she has magical powers. Just like in any other teenage movie, Sabrina has a crush on a boy named Seth who does not notice her.

Not just that, Seth is also dating the mean girl of her high school, Katie La. Thinking to put her powers to good use, the just-turned witch thinks of ways to get Seth to notice her. As a part of the mission ‘get Seth to like me back,’ Sabrina uses a spell to win the track competition. However, Sabrina gets ousted by none other than the queen bee Katie La. Heartfelt, hilarious, and thrilling, Sabrina the Teenage Witch is one of the best romantic mystical comedies.
