The most powerful celebrities are those who are conscious of how they are depicted on the big screen. Ryan Reynolds, who has etched his mark on the Tinseltown comedy genre after a few false starts at the beginning of his career, perfectly matches this phrase. While Deadpool may define Reynolds’ acting legacy, there is more to the actor than the Merc with a Mouth. Now, the Deadpool actor has received another honor for a role he played in a movie more than a decade ago.

This Ryan Reynolds’ iconic romantic comedy film was shredded by the critics when it was released in 2011. However, it recently reclaimed its place on the Netflix charts.

While the entire Marvel universe is eagerly waiting for Ryan Reynolds Deadpool 3 to come to theaters, there is some good news to rejoice in the interim. Reynolds’ 2011 fantasy romance comedy The Change-Up has bagged the third spot on Netflix’s top-ten list. The film starred Reynolds and Jason Bateman as best buddies who found themselves in a Freaky Friday situation after a wild night out. The film was added to the streaming service on November 1 and quickly rose to the top.

The addition of the comedy movie to the streaming service came as no surprise, given that both Bateman and Reynolds had previously collaborated with the platform. Bateman starred as Marty Byrde in Ozark, a Netflix original in which he also served as director. Reynolds, on the other hand, appeared in the Netflix original films The Adam Project and Red Notice, the latter of which still holds the record for most watched movie on Netflix in the first 28 days.

The world of Hollywood has seen several bromances, beginning with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s high school bond; two high school pals who have risen to the heights of Tinseltown. The friendship of Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds, on the other hand, was cemented when the two starred in the R-rated comedy The Change-Up. They acknowledged at the film’s press conference a decade ago that they only decided to work on it because it was R-rated. Further, the amusing writing allowed them to stretch their boundaries.

The Ozark star also expressed gratitude to Reynolds for his comfort and support while filming. Reynolds, on the other hand, remarked that his favorite part of shooting was when Bateman would “break character” and that an entire film could be made up of “cuts of him laughing.” Throughout the film, the duo’s connection and camaraderie are also on display. Reynolds also stated in an interview that Bateman was his first true friend in the industry who was kind to him. In contrast, Batsman admitted to being “high as hell.”
