Ryan Reynolds has had a huge career spanning over thirty years and is still active. Ryan has a varied filmography. He has done it all, from a fourth-wall-breaking superhero to a guy buried alive. However, we haven’t ever seen him sing. So musicals are something that Ryan is yet to give a try.
Luckily, the Canadian actor in his My Next Guest Needs No Introduction episode finally has revealed that he is currently doing a musical with a The Office alumni. But who is this mysterious alumnus, and what is the film about?
Ryan Reynolds has an upcoming musical in the works
Thanks to David Letterman and his questions, we finally have the information bout Ryan’s next project. While talking about his filmography and the film he hasn’t done yet, Ryan told David that he hadn’t done a musical till now in his career.
But he went on to mention that he is currently shooting one with none other than The Office alumnus Will Ferrell.
The experience of shooting with one of his “heroes,” Ryan said, was “very odd” as he felt he was doing him right in front of him. The Adam Project actor then went on to add that the whole film was a bonding experience for “Will and I.”
The prospect of the film sounded amusing to even Letterman himself, who felt if Will is in it then it is definitely a musical.
What is the Will Ferrell and Ryan musical about?
Spirited is a cinematic adaptation of Charles Dickens’ famous work, A Christmas Carol. Reynolds will portray Ebenezer Scrooge, while Ferrell will play a ghost called Present (probably based on the Ghost of Christmas Present). Octavia Spencer also appears in the film, but nothing is known about her character at this time. Sunita Mani of Glow takes on the role of Past.
The film is an original production of Apple TV+ and shall probably be released in the Holiday season this year. Since it is an Apple TV+ original, it will make sense that the movie will only stream on their streaming platform.
