Ryan Reynolds Is a Genius Marketeer, and the NHL Knows It
If you thought Ryan Reynolds buying Wrexham FC, despite the hurdles he had to go through, was a beautiful story, then you have not heard about his affair with the Ottawa Senators. The Deadpool actor confessed that he has been wanting to buy the hockey club on The Tonight Show with host Jimmy Fallon, and days later, attended their game at the Canadian Tire Center, where he received a standing ovation.
Reynolds’ connection with Ottawa goes all the way back to his childhood. Although he joked about needing a “Sugar Daddy” and “Sugar Mummy” in order to complete the love story, looks like NHL is already on it.

NHL has a non-disclosure agreement with Ryan Reynolds
The Canadian actor has talked on multiple occasions about giving back to his country. And buying one of its most popular teams is definitely the right way to do it. Although fans thought that the Deadpool actor might be off the idea of buying any more sports clubs given how his wife was annoyed with the 2 million dollar purchase, Reynolds has other plans. After the actor expressed his desire to invest in Ottawa Senators’, the Canadians, especially the NHL team, were especially thrilled.
Firstly, because that meant more popularity for the entire club, and secondly, a brilliant sports documentary following the purchase of the club identical to Welcome to Wrexham.
To make sure that Reynolds gets his shares in the Ottawa Senators’ ownership, Commissioner Gary Bettman and deputy Bill Daly are pulling all the strings according to Bruce Garrioch’s report. The NHL is letting the bidders know that it wants the Free Guy actor to be a minority partner. Basically, the NHL is looking for a “sugar daddy” or “sugar mommy” for Reynolds. The actor attended the games with some bankers, which only hyped up the excitement.

And given how even NHL is not above acknowledging the obvious fact that they can’t bring in the same crowd Reynolds’ stardom can, the deal is already deemed done by many.
