Ryan Gosling to Play Black President Barack Obama in ‘Yes We Can’? Here’s the Truth Behind the Trailer

Ryan Gosling is a man of many credits. Apart from being a very popular actor, the La La Land star is also an incredibly talented singer. Over the years, Hollywood has witnessed countless actors come and go. However, only a few of them have been able to make an impact like Gosling. The Gray Man actor has given the audience an array of epic performances through various films and shows. And previously, a trailer for Yes We Can showing Gosling as Barack Obama surfaced online.

Biopics and documentaries have become an extremely popular storytelling format around the world. From Will Smith in King Richard to Tom Hardy in Capone, Hollywood is not short on this genre. So is Ryan Gosling joining the bandwagon as well? Will the Barbie star play Barack Obama on-screen?

Yes We Can trailer featuring Ryan Gosling as Barack Obama

The two-minute trailer first made its way on YouTube nearly four months back. It showcased Gosling as the former president of America before he won the elections. The trailer takes the audience through Obama’s run while contesting to become the 44th President of the USA and the first Black President of America. Apart from Gosling, the trailer also featured late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Interestingly, the title Yes We Can was also Barack Obama’s campaign slogan in 2009. Meanwhile, the trailer went viral with nearly 2,36,000 views on YouTube. While the trailer surely looks exciting, there is no such movie in the works. Apparently, the trailer was just a fan-made edit and not an actual trailer for the documentary. Furthermore, since the documentary is about a black president, Gosling would not be the best actor to cast.

However, this is not the first time the two names were taken together. Previously, a series of memes went viral on the internet. Back in 2012 when Obama was campaigning, the fans started drawing parallels between Gosling and Obama. Apparently, the former president had a Gosling-like approach while greeting his supporters.
