Royal Expert Claims How Queen Elizabeth Was Ready to Give Up Her Solitude and Privacy for Harry and Meghan
Queen Elizabeth II had special love and affection for her younger grandchild, Prince Harry. The two shared good camaraderie with each other and there were often reports of how the late monarch broke some royal rules or made amendments for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Their decision to step down as working royals and make a life away from the United Kingdom in California deeply hurt her.
The love was mutual as even in their most controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry and Meghan were all praises for the former’s grandmother. While the couple blamed the family for racist behavior, they spoke highly of the Queen. There was one time when Her Majesty exhibited her affection for the Sussexes by sacrificing her solitude and privacy.

Late Queen’s wonderful wedding gift for Harry and Meghan
Following Harry and Meghan’s grand royal wedding in 2018, the couple received a special gift from Her Majesty in the form of Frogmore Cottage. Before the marriage, the Duke and Duchess resided in Kensington Palace. However, they were hoping to move to a suite of apartments in Windsor Castle. Considering the wish, Queen decided to give them Frogmore Cottage, which was extremely close to Her Majesty’s private garden.
In her upcoming book The New Royals, the royal expert Katie Nicholl has revealed her conversation with Lady Elizabeth Hanson, who was a close ally of the late monarch. Anson told Nicholl that Queen was particular about her privacy, but she decided to give it up for Harry and Meghan. Her Majesty sincerely hoped for the couple to honor her gift.

“The cottage was a big deal. The Queen’s entrance into the gardens is right next to their cottage. It is essentially her backyard, her solitude, and her privacy. She said, ‘I hope they’ll respect it,'” Katie has mentioned in the book as quoted by The Daily Mail.
Harry and Meghan’s stay in the Cottage was short considering they moved there in 2019 and it was in 2020 that they decided to leave the royal family. Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now reside in California, they have retained Frogmore Cottage as their home in the United Kingdom.
