Only a handful of actors who come from a family in the industry have still managed to leave a substantial impact on the industry and create a greater image for themselves. Robert Downey Jr. is an actor who has not only had a larger-than-life persona but also a talent that is greater than the family name. In light of the massive popularity that the Marvel actor possesses, many forget that he is but Jr. and that Robert Downey Sr. was one of the greatest filmmakers in America of his time. And to honor that, the actor recently released a documentary on Netflix titled Sr.

Not only is Sr. another brilliant documentary that the OTT mogul can add to its list of trophies, but it is also a piece of cinematic brilliance and, most importantly, the journey of Robert Downey Jr. understanding his father. Given the shreds of evidence presented above, the fact that the documentary had a landslide victory need not be said out loud. The actor thanked all of his fans for supporting the documentary.

Sr. is somewhere more than an hour long. It has incorporated bits that were directed by Robert Downey Sr. himself with his minimalistic gold style of satire. But apart from being a cinematic genius that comes as a given for anything directed by the Grand Jury Prize-winning director Chris Smith, it is heartwarming down to the last cut. Robert Downey Jr. lost his father to Parkinson’s disease in 2021.

The actor heads into the documentary by saying that it is an attempt at understanding his father and the home video style of filming topped by conflicting moments that the actor’s family faced due to being in the industry is sure to bring out tears.

While many American fanbases gathered to see once again the magic of Robert Downey Sr. and his filmmaking, UK fans did not fall back on showing support.

And it did not go unnoticed by the actor who wrote them a special thanks on Facebook.

“Many thanx to the entire UK community for such a warm Sr. welcome across the pond,” read the caption of the post. Following the release of the documentary, the actor has received outpouring support from the audience for sharing such personal moments.
