Roar Uthaug’s Norwegain Movie ‘Troll’ Gets a Release Date – Check Cast, Synopsis, Trailer and More
Remember Pierce’s Norwegian troll doll from an episode of Community that scared the living daylights out of Donald Glover’s character Troy? Now imagine that very troll coming to life and the havoc it would wreak on the world as we know it. That is exactly what director Roar Uthaug has in mind with his newest release, Troll for Netflix.
Roar Uthaug, best known for Tomb Raider, stars Alicia Vikander. The concept of Troll has been on the Norwegian filmmaker’s mind for about two decades. The dream is finally a reality for Uthaug in collaboration with “the enthusiastic and ambitious people at Netflix and Motion Blur.” By his own admission, he “can’t wait to unleash this Norwegian monster on the world.”

What do we know about the Norwegian flick Troll by Netflix?
With shows like House of the Dragon and Rings of Power, the content world taking a dive into the fantasy genre. Even with Netflix’s The Sandman topping the charts, it is most definitely a fertile time for yet another fantastical movie. Hailing from an age-old Norwegian legend, a mythical creature has come alive in the depths of the mountain of Dovre.

Confined for a millennium, the now free and rage-filled monster is on its way to Oslo, the capital city, and is obliterating anything that comes in its path. Will a handful of brave heroes be able to put an end to this terrifying nightmare that’s straight out of folklore? We will only know once the movie is premiered. Initially, Troll was to star Alicia Vikander, recreating the magic of Tomb Raider. Alas, for reasons unknown, Vikander is no longer part of the Netflix project. However, according to What’s on Netflix, stars like Ine Marie Wilmann, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, Kim Falck, Pål Richard Lunderby, Gard B. Eidsvold, and more will be part of the project. While there is no official release date confirmed yet, the movie is speculated to release in December 2022.
