While a lot of the popular Netflix series and films like Bridgerton, Stranger Things, and The Power of the Dog have been receiving a lot of praise from fans, there are many that just did not sit right with them. Cowboy Bebop is an example of a highly anticipated project that had to be canceled immediately after its release due to negative reviews. The Harder They Fall was one of Netflix’s most awaited projects in 2021. Despite its ensemble cast that did not miss, the film certainly did not live up to the bar fans had in mind for it. As for the latest addition on Netflix, a sequel to the Resident Evil series, the reaction to this particular project hasn’t been great right off the bat.

Why do fans dislike Netflix’s Resident Evil so much?

No matter how much one likes a certain book, game, or franchise, it gets unbearable after a while. Friedrich Nietzsche certainly knew what was up when he said “you either die a hero, or you live long enough to become a villain.” Either we see a franchise come to a satisfactory end, like The Avengers, Harry Potter, or The Lord of The Rings, or we watch creators milking out and capitalizing on it time and again until it begins to annoy us.

The original Resident Evil game by Capcom has over 7 versions. The film series that popularised the game among the western audience originally had 6 films. To this, an animated movie was added later. Add to this list two television series, and endless merchandise and you begin seeing why fans are beginning to get enough of the series. The latest project, Resident Evil on Netflix, is evidence of the same. Instead of being welcome, the series teaser has 6 figure dislikes and a comment section filled with trolls.

As compared to the mere 34k likes, the dislikes on the teaser of the Netflix Original stand at a whopping 167k within the first 48 hours of its release. These numbers, alongside a comment section that seems to have nothing positive to say about the upcoming series, should give Netflix an idea of what fans want.

Considering their recent losses and subsequent budget constraints, do you think that Netflix might put a stop to the Resident Evil series for good? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! And if you do not feel like streaming this one upon its release, below is a list of other zombie films and series on the platform you should check out at once.
