Drake may have just taken a dig at Kanye West in a musical way. The two have never exactly looked eye to eye despite having worked together in the past. Now, rappers tend to diss each other through their songs in creative ways. But Drake seems to have unearthed an old rivalry with Ye through his wife Kim Kardashian.

The ‘Hotline Bling’ singer is coming up with new songs which are still unreleased. But he recently gave a sneak peek at what can be expected. While there were expectations of some spicy lyrics, his inclusion of Kim Kardashian was certainly unexpected. Here is what the reference was all about.

How Drake’s song may have taken a dig at Kanye West through Kim Kardashian

Drake sure got some attention by adding a clip of Keeping up With the Kardashian to his unreleased song. According to JustJared, the singer appeared as a guest on The Fry Yiy Show on 31st March. While on it, he also gave a sneak peek at his upcoming song ‘Rescue Me’. The unreleased track has a surprisingly old recording of Kim Kardashian telling her mother Kris Jenner, “I didn’t come this far just to come this far and not be happy. Remember that.” The clip is from one of the episodes of their reality TV show Keeping with the Kardashians. 

This episode aired in 2021, around the time when she and Ye had already hit a rough patch. The patch only ended with them finalizing their divorce a few months ago. Which means her sentence was a reference to Ye and their marriage.

Although there is no saying whether permission for the sampling has been taken and whether it will make it to the official release.

Drake has been a part of Ye and the Kardashian’s conversation before

Ye once asked Drake to not mention his former wife ever, after getting protective of her. Ever since the divorce, there were rumors of Drake’s linkups with both Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner. Ye himself talked about his musical rival having a thing with his former mother-in-law. His 2016 song ‘Faithful’ also samples Ye’s former girlfriend Amber Rose. Meanwhile, Kardashian herself has been seemingly throwing shade at her ex by posting Drake’s song on her social media last year. It will be seen how the song will be in the end.
