Redditors Lose It as a Fan-Favorite ‘Stranger Things’ Game Is Shutting Down Ahead of the Season 5 Release
It seems like Stranger Things fans just cannot catch a break. From the moment they decided to root for the Netflix hit, it has kept them on the edge- and sometimes in tears- waiting for each season to drop. The agonizing wait for the fifth and final season of the sci-fi horror show is no exception. For two long years, fans have been clinging to every tiny update about Stranger Things Season 5. Now, in the middle of this grueling wait, Netflix has just decided to make things a little more difficult for fans. Because why not?
Netflix stepped into the gaming world back in 2021, and since then, it has released several Stranger Things-themed games. One of them was Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales. First introduced in 2021, Netflix acquired the rights to the game in 2022 for a hefty $72 million and promptly pulled it from the Apple Store and Play Store. But, as it turns out, Netflix could not hold onto it for long either. According to a recent announcement, the game will be officially shut down on December 13.

Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales is a cartoon-inspired, story-driven puzzle role-playing game. According to Teemu Huuhtanen, CEO of Next Games- the company that originally developed the game- it was designed to capture the rich and intense themes of Stranger Things, like friendship and supernatural adventure. However, the decision to shut the game down for good has not sat well with fans.
Fans took to Reddit to voice their frustration as Netflix strips away every small joy they have while they anxiously wait for Season 5.
Fans are reaching their breaking point with Stranger Things

Some fans directly slammed Netflix with comments like, "Netflix needs to stop," while others went even further, saying, "Greed is the world killer." Many also brought up other games that had met a similar fate, saying, "First Tapped Out, now this", and "Walking Dead: Our World at least waited until the week of the Series Finale to send the kill notice". Given the level of frustration, now might be the right time for Stranger Things to pick up the pace on its production.
