After giving fans thrilling action scenes and a humor buzz in Red Notice, director Rawson Marshall Thurber is all set for his next project. And the project he has signed is something this year is all about. Apparently, a lot of films announced this year are live-action versions of famous games. The fusion of the gaming world and cinema is all that people are looking forward to these days. Hence, Thurber has taken over the responsibility to direct the live-action version of Voltron.

The Voltron franchise is centered around an animated TV series where a group of space explorers operates a massive Super Robot referred to as “Voltron”. It traces its roots back to the year 1984 and was at peak popularity during the nineties. The makers have decided to bring the nostalgia back in the form of a live-action version and Thurber has got the opportunity to direct it.

The upcoming live-action Voltron movie will draw inspiration from the eponymous character that was first introduced in the 1980s as a kids’ cartoon. The original adaptation of the show took place in the Japanese anime series Beast King Go-Lion. However, after dubbing it into English, they later modified it into the Voltron series.

The movie will revolve around the idea that the galaxy is now a networked place where the legendary Voltron, a powerful defender of all living things, has become a symbol of hope and peace for various races. However, the character remains shrouded in mystery until a team of alliance fighters is sent on a mission to locate Voltron in the far reaches of space.
