Adapting a novel into a film is hard, and a whole series into a show is next to impossible. But somehow, Netflix always manages to pull it off. They have some of the best adaptations ever and what they did with The Witcher series was extraordinary. But a huge part of the adapting process is that you have to improvise and cannot always stick to the real story. And new casting choices for The Witcher season 3 prove this.

Since The Witcher season 3 is still far away, all updates we have are regarding the casting. But they give us an idea in which direction the show is going. So let us take a look if The Witcher season 3 will be faithful to the books or will it, like its predecessors, improvise the narrative.

The Witcher’s imminent third season casting announcement serves as a sort of indication that the program will continue to adapt sections of the source novels. Netflix revealed earlier this week that four new actors will be joining the ensemble of The Witcher for the third season.

While much of the attention was focused on Robbie Amell’s casting, the statement also announced that two essential characters from the novels will appear in the series next season.

Milva, a brilliant huntress adopted by dryads, will be played by Meng’er Zhang. While Mistle, a member of The Rats street gang, will be played by Christelle Elwin.

Milva and Mistle first appear in Andrzej Sapkowski’s second full-length The Witcher novel, Time of Contempt. While Netflix’s The Witcher series has deviated significantly from the novels’ plots. The hiring of Milva and Mistle suggests that plotlines from Time of Contempt will be adopted for the TV series.

Second season had The Wild Hunt in it but some elements from the books were missing. This suggests that show will continue to roughly adapt the books and improvise the rest.

Season three of Netflix’s hit epic show The Witcher is currently under production. While the first two seasons are streaming only on Netflix.
