Calling Part 2 of Season 3 of The Witcher incredible would be an understatement. While it was Henry Cavill‘s final outing as Geralt, fans also saw another character go through a significant transformation. Season 3 was perhaps one of the most transformative seasons for Freya Allan’s Ciri. Not long ago, the show’s third installment came to an end, leaving fans with an epic conclusion. And recently, the actress explained what went down during the show’s ending. 

Towards the end of the second part, we saw how Geralt struggled against his battle with Vilgefortz. Even though Cavill fails to defeat the character, he continues his search for Ciri. Meanwhile, Ciri’s life had taken a completely different turn. She joined a group of rogue bandits known as The Rats. As the last episode takes the audience through her journey, Ciri encounters Falka, which leaves many confused. So who is Falka?

Freya Allan explains who Falka is

The last episode of The Witcher took the fans through Ciri’s incredible journey in the bleak desert. Apart from unraveling Ciri’s blistering adventure, it also introduced the fans to some new characters. During her harrowing journey through the far-flung Korath Desert, Ciri first comes across Little Horse, a unicorn. However, the Little Horse is not the only one who Ciri converses with. Shortly after, Falka, who happens to be her ancestor, comes to visit Ciri on her journey. 

The fans aware of the novels have a brief idea of who the character is. In Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, Falka is a princess of Redania. She also has a dark and rooted history with her family. Meanwhile, Freya Allan has a completely different idea of the character. 

During her interview with Tudum, Allan described Falka as imaginary. The actress further portrayed Falka as a “projection of Ciri’s complicated thoughts on leadership.“

 In addition to her encounter, Ciri also calls herself Falka during a pivotal scene.

When does Ciri use Falka’s name?

As Ciri struggles to survive during her journey in the desert, she also acquires new fire magic. She goes on to use her powers to heal a white unicorn that, gives her how powerful her abilities are. However, during one of the scenes, the audience witnesses how Ciri is held hostage by a bunch of nomads. With the help of the Rats, Ciri escapes and kills the nomad who captured her. Following that, Ciri introduces herself as Falka to the Rats.

While the show did not exactly tell us why, there could be a handful of reasons why Ciri calls herself Falka. Firstly, we witness that the entire continent is looking for her. Another reason could be the guilt that took over. Allan explained to Tudum how the idea could be that she feels she is no different than Falka as she now has blood on her hands.
