It was not long back that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle declined King Charles III’s Sandringham invitation. It is believed that another heartbreak is in line for the new monarch, as Prince William and Kate Middleton can also opt out. Christmas meant a great deal for Queen Elizabeth II and thus her entire family was under the same roof for the festivities every year. 

All the royal members used to assemble at Sandringham. Following her demise, King Charles wants to keep her legacy alive. However, it might be tough considering both his sons and their respective families will be unavailable. Christmas 2022 might be hard for His Majesty, as he will miss the late Queen dearly. The absence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is understood considering their strained relationship with the House of Windsor. However, what is the reason behind Wales giving the invitation a miss?

Prince William and Kate Middleton to make their own memories

Royal correspondent Jennie Bond believes that Prince William and Kate Middleton will be hoping to create their own traditions for the festival after the Queen. They would want to have some precious time with their three children, Prince Louis, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte, for the holidays. Bond believes that the younger royals will be no longer interested in two or three days of celebrations at Sandringham. 

“While I imagine there will be a gathering at Sandringham, whether it will be as extended as it used to be with the Queen, and with quite as many people, I’m not sure,” Jennie Bond as per OK. 

Reports suggest that Prince William and Kate Middleton will be spending the holidays with the latter’s family. Christmas has always been a big affair for the Middletons and thus the Princess of Wales will be hoping to have a get-together with her parents. Notably, until a few years back, Wales used to spend Christmas with the Middletons and the royal family alternatively.
