With King Charles’s coronation inching closer with each passing day, tensions have been reaching an all-time high in the United Kingdom. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been facing getting the hits left and right ever since they released the bombshell Netflix docuseries and the tell-all memoir, Spare. The one that might have hit them places was King Charles’s latest ordeals regarding the couple’s previous lodging. So, will they sit back?

A couple of days ago, news reports had it that the King had officially evicted the self-exiled couple from their Frogmore Cottage. Although their days were numbered, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had spent quite a few days in their royal base in the United Kingdom. In the course of the same, they had also invested a chunk of their fortune in the Cottage development.

Reports have it that they are now to ask back the same as they have been officially stripped of their rights to reside there. As reported by the New York Post, Prince Harry, and Meghan might recoup the $2.8 million that they had given into the former residence. The royal expert who shared her two cents on the same stated, they might be looking for “a hefty refund to hit their accounts.

The expert is of the opinion that Buckingham palace cannot simply evict the couple and not expect a question from the Sussexes. She further stressed the fact that there is a certain period left to run on the lease.

The royal expert also gave a detailed account of everything that the Sussexes had put into the Frogmore Cottage before moving into. For the record, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had cleared rent of five months for the home after the royal renunciation. However, this was before they shelled out a total of $3.3 million to bear the expenses.

The keeper of Privy Purse reported in 2021 that the payment covered all their obligations and they believed “it represents a good income.” In addition to that, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had also cashed in a significant amount to the Sovereign Grant that bore the refurbishment costs of Frogmore Cottage.
