“Sussexes are a bit disappointed with the final product. They feel like the docuseries lean too much into drama and victimhood. Today, Meghan wants to be seen as a thought leader and a changemaker, and they want to put the past behind them,” the royal expert said in the podcast.
Further, Kinsey Schofield mentioned that the Duke and Duchess did not have much say in the docuseries. They were not given any creative liberty over the project. Netflix was eager to showcase the series through director Liz Garbus’ lens. Before the release of the show, various reports suggested a tiff between the royal couple and Netflix bosses. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wanted to edit certain scenes after Queen Elizabeth II’s death, but the streaming giant denied the permission.
