Pregnant “Fat Lady” Meghan Markle Had the Perfect Reply to Shut Trolls
Meghan Markle, throughout the majority of her life, has found herself in situations that demand thick skin. Be it playing the adored character of Rachel Zane on Suits or taking on the role of Prince Harry’s wife and the Duchess of Sussex. Despite the discrepancy between the two roles, Markle has maintained dignity and has used her platform to make the world a better place.
During her time as a working Royal, Meghan Markle had her heart in the right place as she focused on many animal welfare organizations. In 2019, the Duchess was around town visiting her patronages and this brought her to the Mayhew center for rescue dogs. During a visit that was supposed to be full of warmth and fuzzy considering dogs were on the agenda, Meghan Markle received an unexpected comment about her body.

In 2019, Meghan Markle, despite her evident bump, did not slack off on her animal welfare projects. The Duchess was six months pregnant when she visited her patronage, Mayhew. Markle also stopped to greet visitors, supporters, and volunteers. It was during one such meeting that a woman called Meghan Markle a ” fat lady,” as reported by E! News. The term in any circumstance isn’t pleasing or light-hearted. But you can count on Markle to take the jibe with ease.
The Jamaican woman that called Markle a “fat lady,” was not shaming the Duchess in any way, as her initial greetings entailed calling Markle “lovely”. She made the “fat” comment in the context of the actress’s baby bump.
Her choice of words that resulted in a sea of baffled faces can be accounted to cultural differences. And the Duchess smoothly replied, “I’ll take it,” as she let out a giggle, proving that the best accessory to pair $1,600 Armani coat is thick skin and good humor.
Is the Duchess still a Mayhem patron?
Meghan Markle became a patron for the Mayhem animal charity in 2019 and continued to work with them even after Megxit. However, it was in 2022 that the animal welfare organization announced that their patronage has come to an end. The former actress marked the end of her association with Mayhem with a message encouraging everyone to continue to support the Mayhem Animal charity and other such charities that contribute towards animal welfare.
