Broken trust, a huge politician with an image to maintain, and intense scrutiny from the public&#8211; this is the plot of Anatomy of a Scandal right from the very beginning. After leading what seems like the perfect life, Sophie finds herself in the middle of what she can only describe as a scandal.
Actress Sienna Miller talked about her role, admitting how it was a &#8220;strange&#8221; one to take on. She said, &#8220;it is strange, it&#8217;s also quite familiar in a way. I felt like I am a sort of expert in that kind of situation.&#8221;

Miller is nothing like the lead character of the <a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/category/originals/">Netflix Original</a>, Sophie. Yet, she found that she could relate to her in many ways.

One of the central themes of Anatomy of a Scandal is that of public scrutiny. Sophie grew up during an era where media houses had a lot of power. She described &#8220;the feeling of going to sleep knowing something&#8217;s coming out in the morning was horrible and something I would not like to experience again, but for some weird reason was interested in exploring on film.&#8221;

<h2>The line between public and private</h2>
Being celebrities themselves, both Miller and her co-star Rupert Friend (James Whitehouse) talked about the thin line that divides what is public domain and what is private when it comes to the actions of a popular figure.

Friend <a href="https://news.sky.com/story/anatomy-of-a-scandal-sienna-miller-rupert-friend-and-michelle-dockery-on-issues-of-consent-and-media-scrutiny-in-new-drama-12590105">said</a>, &#8220;People who are public figures &#8211; there&#8217;s always going to be that slight sort of church and state divide between what they&#8217;re presenting to us and what they&#8217;re doing in their private lives, and on the whole, I think that people&#8217;s private lives should be private.”
However, he agreed that this doesn&#8217;t pertain to politicians. He mentioned how artists and their personal lives have the right to more privacy than those on a pedestal. This is because they aren&#8217;t seen as &#8220;an exemplar of leadership or ethical guidance&#8221; in the way politicians are. This is where, according to him, the line gets drawn between what should and shouldn&#8217;t be public domain.
