Peaky Blinders season 6 has been nothing short of a rollercoaster. While fans knew that the season-ending was going to be a shock, irrespective of whether Tommy wins again, they didn’t expect the season to begin with a twist, such a large one at that. After a season full of ups and downs that are unique in the most Shelby family manner, we are finally approaching the end of the season, and this show can only be described as iconic. Now that we are nearing the end, what are we to make of Steven Knight’s words “the end of the beginning“?

What do Peaky Blinders director Steven Knight’s words mean?

While April 3, 2022, is going to be the finale of Peaky Blinders, this is not the last time we will see the iconic Shelby hats. Through the six seasons of Peaky Blinders, we have seen Tommy Shelby win against foes repeatedly. By the end of each season, we see Tommy emerge victorious against all odds. While we assumed this might be the case for season 5 as well, fans know that it wasn’t. However, the series maintains its streak of ending in peace or clear victory.

Director Steven Knight talked about how he wishes for the series to end in “conflict“. What started in the first world war will end right during the second, showing us how the Shelby family changed in many ways and didn’t in many others.

This is not to insinuate that the Netflix Original will end with a cliffhanger.

What’s going to happen next?

For good or for bad, we will see where the previous episode (season 6, episode 5) set the stage for a thrilling end to the series. The movie will be a proper conclusion that will serve as an epilogue and the newer beginnings of the Shelby clan. We do not know yet whether Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby will make it out of the current conflict alive, but we do know that he will appear in some form in the film. This makes the anticipation for the movie even more intense.

As of now, all we know of this iconic series and the upcoming film is that the finale of Peaky Blinders isn’t just the end. We will watch the Shelby family return to the screens just as they started out, in a world war, making for a very twisted circle, or, as Knight likes to call it, “the end of the beginning“.
