The actor had a long, much-discussed affair with Jennifer Lopez during their prime, even appearing in the song Jenny From The Block. But the duo split eventually. The duo first got hitched in 2005 and by 2018 decided to split mutually. Meanwhile, Lopez ended her relationship with Alex Rodriguez.

The two have been enjoying their new marriage. Now, it is no secret that the Gone Girl actor has struggled with alcoholism for years, and has been in and out of rehab. In an interview, he opened up about his alcohol addiction and the reason behind it all.

Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s new marriage was the highlight of this year. But during an interview on The Howard Stern Show, the actor got candid about his life as he spoke of his struggles with marriage and alcoholism. Stating that he felt trapped in the marriage, he said, “I’d probably still be drinking, It’s part of why I started drinking…because I was trapped.” The kids were the major reason why he could not leave the marriage, even though he was unhappy.

He shared how he tried to solve the problems by drinking scotch and falling asleep on the couch, but realized that wasn’t the solution. The Last Duel actor is a father to three kids, namely Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. He and the Peppermint actress talked things out but realized that they had grown apart and there was no point in pretending anymore.

The actor felt that one cannot quit alcohol without suffering. After all, he knows better than anyone about the struggles of dealing with alcoholism. Despite the issues, he and Garner ended things on good terms and co-parent the children well. Not much is known about Affleck’s alcohol condition since he married Lopez.
