Henry Cavill is a name synonymous with major franchises and terrible farewells from said major franchises. More often than not, when an actor plays a major role with the devotion Cavill does, they get stereotyped in it. And the case stands for Henry Cavill. The Witcher and Superman, albeit bringing acclaim for the actor, have cast a shadow on roles he shines even brighter.

The actor who adapts his character down to the last morsel has showcased his brilliant acting range by bringing vulnerability to roles as one-dimensional as that of Superman and Geralt. However, Cavill’s most popular performances come second only to his performance in a war movie that went unnoticed despite releasing on a popular global streaming service i.e. Netflix.

What is Cavill’s best performance?

Back in 2017, when the OTT Mughal had not learned to reap the benefits of promoting its content on social media, the curtains closed on Sand Castle even before the movie could fully show its magic. Movies that did not automatically become a global hit at that time were removed from the main page within a week by Netflix. Hence, the Fernando Coimbra masterpiece revolving around a confused soldier in the Iraq War that entailed Cavill’s best performance did not get the applause it deserved.

In this layered movie, Cavill strips off the uniform of strength, hope, and justice, that he has going on in most of his roles and plays a frustrated soldier by the name of Captain Syverson.

Sand Castle: Not your average Henry Cavill movie

As stated earlier, despite being a soldier Cavill is no goody two shoes in this movie. His hopelessness as he carries out his day is a stark contrast to his confident and responsible shoulders in Superman.

The xenophobia and racism are as clear and harsh as the glaring sunlight of Iraq, where he is tasked, as his speaking inches closer to spitting when he meets a local. Henry Cavill as Captain Syverson in Sand Castle puts forth a performance unlike any other you have seen before.
