In another heartbreaking news for all those who loved the horses featured on The Witcher, Redanian Intelligence reported on Twitter that Hector would be leaving the cast too. Cavill has often taken to Instagram to show off his two horses, Zeus and Hector. But unfortunately, the upcoming season 4 will not feature Hector. Cavill leaving the show also meant that the time spent on getting comfortable and training with the horse came to an end too. And as we see Cavill departing, Hector took his leave too.
If you have wondered why Geralt calls his horses ‘Roach’ in the show, it is because of his Polish association. First, the author of the book, Andrzej Sapkowski, is a Polish author. Hence, the Polish term roach for Geralt’s mare. And second, it is because of Geralt’s preference for mares (lady horses, in Cavill’s words) over stallions. The Polish word translates into roach, and hence, Hector, the roach.
Do not mind the male horses playing the roles, as they play it well! Here is all we know about Cavill and his two favorite horses.

The love Cavill has for his Roaches is adorable. Often taking to Instagram to share snippets from his shoot, he posts pictures of the horses he trains with after reuniting with them for the start of their filming. Zeus and Hector, the two roaches, have been making appearances on his page since 2020.
In 2020, the actor introduced the two on Instagram and the association of the word roach. While Zeus left the show earlier, we see Hector leave the crew after the third season. Though the production of season 4 seems to be halted, the actor who will play the next Roach, if there will be any, has not yet been announced.
