Henry Cavill came, saw, and conquered the fandom of Netflix’s The Witcher, yet then he left. Now, with his exit, the show falls on the shoulders of some of the leading heavyweights to carry it forward. Despite Liam Hemsworth taking up the mantle of Geralt, the most favored contenders for that now would be Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri. Again leading Ciri is Chalotra as Yennefer, thus, it is important to see what she holds and expects from the future of The Witcher narrative. 

On the lines of it, Chalotra had once revealed what she looked forward to the most in the upcoming season. And no, it is not related to Liam Hemsworth.

Playing Yennefer, the British-Indian actress has had quite the progress both professionally and in-universe. From playing a cast out due to her crooked back to being one of, if not the most powerful woman on the continent, Yennefer is bound to hog the limelight in session four. However, Chalotra is not looking forward to it as much as she is looking forward to Ciri. In talks with DigitalSpy the actress, stated that she was thrilled about “Ciri and the Rats. I’m excited to see that for her, for Ciri, for Freya”.

The Rats, in Andrzej Sapkowski’s original books, are a group of outlaws who were victims of Nilfgaard’s war to conquer the Continent. Despite their main goal to loot, plunder, and get rich, they also engage in killing for fun. In the dismally rated season finale, Ciri joins the Rats after they save her from pursuing mercenaries. Taking up the name of Falka, the spirited braveheart joined the group.

Thus, the upcoming arc for season 4 of the Netflix fantasy has a lot in store for fans. From a new Geralt to thrilling character arcs.

Where are Yennefer and Ciri headed and where does Geralt fit in?

It looked as if the two most powerful women of the Witcherverse were headed towards common ground with a mother-daughter arc. Yet, they are now widely separate. After Yennefer stayed behind the death of Tissaia, she will now be leading the reformation of The Brotherhood. Moreover, as of now, with her magic prowess, Yennefer will be a force to be reckoned with. Meanwhile, in which direction Ciri sways will yet to be seen.

Amidst all of this enters Liam Hemsworth as the new Geralt. The last we saw of Geralt was Henry Cavill, walking and fading away into the distance. The next season will have fans open up their hearts to embrace the change. While not as drastic, there was a precedent in the original source of Geralt returning with scars. Alas, how he fits in with the Yennefer-Ciri narrative is best left for the showmakers to ponder.
