Not Just Geralt, Another Key Character Will Also Undergo Change in the Upcoming Season of ‘The Witcher’
The Witcher season 3 was a hit-and-miss owing to its weak plotlines and Henry Cavill’s lack of screen time. Many fans disliked the soap-opera vibes in the season and even criticized the monster–fighting scenes that were subpar and failed to deliver. On the flip side, there was also a section of fans who found this season closest to the original book. Given the history of The Witcher makers regarding the bastardization of original plots, this was truly a breath of fresh air. The only silver lining, however, in this season was its conclusion.
Towards the end of season 3, fans saw a major transformation in one of the key characters that made them hopeful for the upcoming season. From the looks of it, the upcoming season will not just see a change in Geralt of Rivia but also in another crucial character.

The plot of The Witcher season 3 was mainly fixated on Geralt’s struggle in finding Ciri, played by Freya Allan. Even though Ciri has always been the focus since birth, this season particularly put her in the limelight as multiple groups are desperately trying to track her down. Owing to all the plight Ciri underwent in this season, viewers saw a huge transformation in her nature. From being a timid and protected girl, she has now joined forces with the outlaws. On top of that, she calls herself Falka.
Falka, often referred to as “Bloody Falka”, is Ciri’s ancestor and possesses a mischievous, murderous personality. Ciri calling herself Falka could either be a way of camouflaging her identity, or this could be a dark transformation for the character. After her first kill, she seems to have lost her moral compass, which can add an extra dimension to the storyline of The Witcher.
Season 3’s ending along with the new twist with Geralt’s character can help the series get back its lost popularity and viewership.

With Cavill’s exit, fans are anxious about how Liam Hemsworth will carry on the legacy of Cavill. With season 3’s intriguing ending, it is safe to say that there is a possibility of recovering lost viewership in the upcoming seasons. The executive producer, Tomek Bagiński, shared in the making video shared by Netflix that Ciri, “will slowly discover that she is the main character of the Witcher saga.” Fans were also fretting over how this new face will be introduced until the producer cleared the air.
As per the 5th book of The Lady of the Lake, the story will skip way ahead in the future and will be told from different perspectives. This will make plenty of room to introduce Geralt’s character with a distinct face. Bagiński has also revealed that they are hiring new writers who are constantly finding a way to infuse Hemsworth in the series. He said, “I think they cobbled together a really nice opening which is really true to the books”. So far, the upcoming season looks promising and only time will tell if they can truly bring back the original charm of this obsession-worthy series.
