Besides the departure of Henry Cavill, season 3 of The Witcher was riddled with many emotional moments. Among them, one of the most painful ones came in the guise of a beloved character’s death. When Tissaia played by MyAnna Buring passed away, many fans’ eyes welled up with tears. Because the woman was a mentor and a mother figure to Anya Chalotra’s character Yennefer. Their touching bond made Yennefer and Tissaia one of the most beloved duos of The Witcher.

For Buring, as heartbreaking as that scene was to portray, her lowest moment was not that one. Instead, it was another aspect of her death that saddened her even more.

What stung MyAnna Buring the most?

Last month, in an interview with Insider, Buring revealed that the “most difficult scene” to shoot was not her death. Instead, she said that it was the moment she had to leave a letter to Yennefer before Tissaia took her own life. The Swedish actress recalled thinking “that stings” as she played out her last scene. And after the scene ended, she even “bawled” her eyes out. 

For fans of the show, Tissaia’s death was as much a tear-jerker as the departure of their beloved Cavill. Especially because of the way that she drafted her final note to Yennefer and the breaking of the beautiful bond between them. 

Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, was just as devastated as the Kill List actress over Tissaia’s fateful end. After that, she even hinted at what Tissaia’s death will mean for her character.

How Tissaia’s death will impact Yennefer in the next season of The Witcher 

According to Chalotra, Yennefer will have to suffer “so much more” loneliness in the absence of Tissaia, whom she would look up to for everything. In the Wanderlust actresses’ opinion, Buring’s character’s untimely death will spark a “new beginning for Yennefer.” Considering all the sacrifices Tissaia made for her mentee, she truly held an irreplaceable position in Yennefer’s life.

So, it is no wonder that for some fans, Yennefer and Tissaia were an even more important duo than Geralt and Ciri. Although MyAnna Buring will no longer be in the show, she will forever be counted among The Witcher’s most talented cast members.
