In the cutthroat world of Tinseltown, where connections and family ties often wield considerable clout, the playing field is surprisingly level. Talent and grit can still trump privilege and pedigree. A familiar name emerging in the industry, Maya Hawke is a shining example of the same. Hawke happens to be the offspring of Hollywood royalty Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, who made herself known in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. And she has no remorse over the tag bestowed upon her whatsoever. 

Hawke believes there lies a place in industry's meritocracy, where hard work and skill can still propel you to stardom, regardless of who your parents are.

Speaking to The Times of London, the Stranger Things star weighed in on how she is way past the nepotism claims in her work. Considering if she deserves the fame and glory or not, Maya Hawke answered, “I think I'm comfortable with not deserving it and doing it anyway.” The reason behind Hawke’s carefree take is nothing but the play of opportunity and destiny. She believes many could have outperformed her if they had a chance.

They, however, did not, and that does not amount to a hurdle between Maya Hawke and the success that she earned. According to the 25-year-old, opportunity once missed, is passed on. Moreover, she has made peace with the fact that her “not doing it wouldn't help anyone.” Hence, she chose the way forward. During the nascent stages of her career, Hawke recalls how she set her roadmap and did not let go of any casting role auditions.

Her relentless pursuit of the same finally got her the much-sought-after breakthrough she was hunting for. Thereafter, she never looked back. 

Not just Stranger Things, but Maya Hawke has now made good a couple of deals with some beloved franchises that carry the potential to propel her to higher levels. Inside Out 2 is shaping up to be an emotional powerhouse, with Maya Hawke joining the cast as Anxiety, a new emotion set to stir the pot. Hawke's character will explore the complexities of anxiety, delving into both its positive and negative aspects. 

As the sequel follows Riley's journey into her teenage years, Hawke’s character, Anxiety takes center stage, tackling the challenges of social anxiety. With its star-studded voice cast and timely themes, Inside Out 2 is poised to be a cinematic masterpiece when it hits theaters on June 14, 2024. Stranger Things Season 5 meanwhile, will run longer, the star hinted previously.
